Technical Museum Nikola Tesla will show you the evolution of science and technology. In addition, experience a 350-meter model mine underneath the museum or observe a rotating magnetic field and Tesla’s inventions.
TIP: THE TRAM CAR M24 FROM 1924 DRIVES MUSEUM VISITORS AROUND ZAGREB EVERY SUNDAY AT 9:30 AM. THE APIARY IS OPEN FOR VISITORS ONLY DURING SUMMER. THE MUSEUM MAINTAINS THE OLDEST PRESERVED STEAM ENGINE IN THE AREA.
Technical Museum Nikola Tesla shows the development and application of technological advances. Along with its permanent display, it features special exhibits such as the Planetarium, the Apisarium, the Mine, and the Nikola Tesla study.
The museum was established in 1954 to promote science and technology. Since 1958 it is situated in the former Zagreb Fair wooden buildings in the city centre.
The building is an exhibit on its own. A rare early 20th-century example of European engineering concept of expo-halls timber structures with a large span.
Throughout the years they collected some 10,000 items typical for the 19th and 20th-century industrial era. The museum is interesting as you get to see the evolution of science and technology through their displays.

What can you see and do at the Technical Museum Nikola Tesla?
Spend a couple of hours at the Technical Museum. Especially interesting to kids as it features steam-engine locomotives, scale models of satellites and spaceships.
350-meter model mine is situated underneath the museum in the old ventilation shafts.
In the first place, the agriculture, geology, energy and transport departments all promote and display the progress of science and technology.
We recommend scheduling your visit to be on time for the Mine tour, Nikola Tesla lecture and a visit to the Planetarium.
For this reason, the tours take 20 minutes so you will have enough time to visit all tours. The Mine and the Planetarium are open only during guided tours.
Although, the Planetarium is in Croatian only you will enjoy views of a starry sky from the North Pole to the equator. It is not recommended for children under 7 years old.
How to get to Technical Museum Nikola Tesla?
The Technical Museum is easily reachable by foot or by tram. From ban Jelačić Square you can take trams no. 12, 13, 14 and 17 heading west and stop at the 3rd Technical Museum and Student Centre stop.
The public car park can be found behind the Museum.
