Jarun Lake – Sports, Recreation and Nightlife

Jarun Lake is the largest entertainment centre in Zagreb. All year round, being day or night Jarun Lake features activities for all age groups. A popular getaway for locals, especially during warm summer days.

TIP: JARUN IS A MAN MADE LAKE. BUILT AND OPENED IN 1987 FOR THE UNIVERSIADE – WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES.

Jarun Lake is a multipurpose recreational sports centre. The place to go for rest and recreation.

Featuring a 2 km artificial lake surrounded by cycling tracks, promenade, forests and parks.

Feel free to run, skate or cycle along its 5.500m track which surrounds the lake. Numerous sports are presented, such as:

Also called the Zagreb Sea, swimming and all sorts of water sports are organised during warm summer days. There are lifeguards on duty during the swimming season.

The Big Lake (Veliko Jezero) is the part of the lake for rowing and windsurfing. On the other hand, the Small Lake (Malo Jezero) is reserved for swimming, pedal boat rides, bars, and cafes.

Windsurfing is particularly popular, but rowers and paddlers will find ample room for themselves.

What can you see and do at Jarun Lake?

This spacious sports and recreational centre is an oasis just outside of the city centre.

You can go for a run, ride a bike, swim and play numerous other sports. Run through the Walk of Fame and learn about great Croatian athletes.

Jarun is great for families as there are numerous playgrounds all over. The whole place is huge and in every corner, you can find bars and restaurants. But you can also barbecue or party at one of the barbecue spots all across Jarun lake.

The lake is ideal for sunbathing or cooling off on hot summer days.

Jarun Lake naturist pebble beach is located on the southern side.

During the night you can go clubbing or simply jump from bar to bar.

How to get to Jarun Lake?

You can take the tram no. 5 or 17 to Jarun and follow signs to the lake (jezero).

We would recommend taking a car as parking is very affordable.
