Hunting Museum Zagreb

Hunting Museum Zagreb dedicates itself to preserving the cultural heritage of Croatian hunters and to educating citizens and future hunters.

TIP: THE MUSEUM HOLDS A UNIQUE EXHIBITION OF OVER 1000 BIRDS’ EGGS, COLLECTED FROM MORE THAN 350 BIRD TYPES WHICH INHABIT CROATIA.

Hunting Museum Zagreb will show you mostly Croatian wildlife, but there is a small exhibition on world wildlife as well.
Their main objective is to educate citizens about hunters traditions and preservation of artefacts.

The museum is part of the Croatian Hunters Association which aim is to preserve nature for the generations to come.

Hunting has a long history. As a matter of fact, it pre-dates the emergence of Homo sapiens and it should be cherished as such.

The Hunting Museum collection has more than 2,000 items. Mainly superb trophies of the game from Croatia.

The museum’s collections keep increasing mainly with abnormal and other trophies from our habitats. They are particularly important to study the disturbances in environmental balance.

Likewise, top game trophies cannot be alienated abroad. They are bought by the Republic of Croatia and are kept in the Hunting Museum.
One of them being the largest bear in Croatia (state champion). Acquired by Czech hunter Martin Klech in 2010.

What can you see and do at the Hunting Museum Zagreb?

It is a small museum which can be explored within an hour.

You can see and learn about the vast history of hunting in Croatia. The museum mainly represents Croatian wildlife, but there is an exhibition on the international game as well.

The most unique exhibition is their collection of birds and birds’ eggs.

How to get to Hunting Museum Zagreb?

We recommend taking UBER or Taxi as it is a bit of an uphill climb.

You can take the public bus from the British square with bus lines 102 or 105. Get off on the third stop, in front of the Museum of Architecture or Vladimir Nazor House.

If you wish to walk, there is a short but steep uphill climb from the Tuškanac Parking Garage.
