Art Pavilion Zagreb – Oldest and the Most Beautiful Gallery
Art Pavilion Zagreb was and always will be a dynamic scene of events. During its 120 years of history, the pavilion has hosted important exhibitions. From Picasso, LeWitt, Goldoni, Rodin, Henry Moore, Meštrović, Bukovac and Murtić to Warhol, Nasta Rojc, Marija Braut and many others.
TIP: IT IS THE OLDEST GALLERY IN SOUTHEAST EUROPE. THE BUILDING IS ONE OF THE FIRST PREFABRICATED BUILDINGS IN EUROPE.
Art Pavilion Zagreb does not have a permanent display. On the contrary, it specialises in one-off solo and group exhibitions. Representing works by both Croatian and foreign artists from all periods and styles.
It was constructed in 1897 and for this reason, it is the oldest gallery in Southeast Europe.
Vlaho Bukovac urged all Croatian artists to present their works in a purpose-built Pavilion during the May 1896 a Millennium Exhibition in Budapest. The Pavilion was constructed around a prefabricated iron skeleton.
After the exhibition, the building’s skeleton was transported to Zagreb. Viennese architects of the Croatian National Theatre designed the new version of the building in stunning art-nouveau style.

This is one of the most beautiful historical buildings in Zagreb. Art Pavilion is a place for everyone who is interested in art.
It does not have a permanent display. Because of that, it is showcasing interesting exhibitions all the time.
It can be closed during setup, in between exhibitions.
How to get to Art Pavilion Zagreb?
The Pavilion is located south of ban Josip Jelačić square. Some 5 minutes walking distance or 2 tram stations with no. 6 and 2. It is the focal point of the King Tomislav Square on the opposite side of Zagreb Train Station.
The Art Pavilion can be reached by trams no. 2, 4, 6, 9 and 13, stop at the Zagreb Train Station station.
